The Design Event – an exclusive industry soiree that took place this past Thursday 19 September at the beautiful Robert Plumb Studios, Sydney.
The event, hosted by Outdoor Designer Store together with The Australian Institute of Landscape Designers and Managers (AILDM) was bursting with media, as the landscaping industry’s finest gathered as one to engage, learn and share.
The event kicked off with an introduction by Claudia Crawley of AIDLM, followed by an informative talk by Kristin of Robert Plumb who effortlessly generated excitement showcasing the stunning new Robert Plumb products.
Our own Luke Mina of Concrete Art by Luke then stepped up to talk about transforming the humble concrete bench top. We bet you never thought those stones you collected on holiday could ever be integrated into your coffee table. Luke’s unique pieces are an expression of creativity – his discussion on colours, marble effects and textures was fascinating.
The increasingly popular demand to style outdoor spaces was a key influence in the decision to hold The Design Event, and who better to discuss this trend than innovative and dynamic Landscape Designer, Adam Robinson.
Designing gardens and landscapes is just PART of his portfolio – he also designs pots, screens, mirrors and more to enhance and complement every outdoor space. Adam’s passion and creativity is showcased in every project he takes on.
Adam discussed current industry styling trends, in addition to launching his new range of products which can be viewed exclusively on Habitus Living.
Nick Hadji, founder and director of Outdoor Designer Store demonstrated the new platform updates and further discussed the continual evolution of the industry, as well as the pace at which the business world is changing, particularly over the last 10 years.
Nick echoed Adam’s talk with the need to finish off projects with exceptional products.
“we need to embrace the fact that more and more savvy consumers will start expecting either a service of styling or at the very least, advice or referrals, to help them create their lifestyle area.”
The Outdoor Designer Store team has worked effortlessly behind the scenes to implement changes that its users have requested including a greater range of products and more user friendly features.
New platform changes and suppliers will be rolled out of the next few weeks.
Nick finished off the evening saying:
“lets leave here tonight and start supporting the suppliers that are out there producing amazing products for our industry, and make sure that at the very least, if we are not purchasing products for every project you do, you are referring products and brands to every single customer you have.”
If you are an industry professional, visit the website and register as a designer. If you are a supplier and would like to be part of the platform, register your interest via the platform.
